Useful Terminology

This page includes some useful terminology that you, if you're like me and new to British culture, may find to be handy!:

" 'Ya Alright" : is a greeting. They don't really want to know if you are alright. big grin

"Direct Debit" : This is when you give permission for a company to take money from your account. (i.e. to pay bills etc). This can be of a varying amount each month.

"Standing Order": This is when you setup a regular payment from your account (e.g. rent) and is generally the same amount each month. Legally very different to a direct deposit.
